I enjoy learning the guitar because,

among other things, it is teaching me

to stick with things that I can’t do

until I can do them. Learning the guitar

is teaching me that practice, practice,

practice works. Strings that used to sound

dull, or stupid, now spring to attention

at the touch of my fingers. It is very rewarding

to go from not being able to place your fingers

in the position of a certain chord to being one

with that chord.
