I’ve never lived with a bird

I’ve lived with my mother

and father and brother in a house

in the burbs.

I’ve lived with women in sin as some say.

I’ve lived with dogs, cats, turtles, fish, and a frog,

but I’ve never lived with a  bird.

I’ve lived with diabetes, with being a drunk

who hasn’t had a drink in a long while,

with dandruff, bad breath, and broke.

But I’ve never lived with a bird.
